Bio
Originally from Charlotte, NC, Captain John Irwin began fishing during summer vacations on Kiawah Island in South Carolina. He later followed this passion to Big Sky, Montana, where he spent seven years as a drift boat guide on the Gallatin, Madison, Yellowstone, and Beaverhead Rivers. After many years of fly-fishing in Montana, Captain Irwin was ready for a change of scenery... Charleston's tailing redifsh!
Captain John Irwin received his US Coast Guard Captain's License and started Fly Right Charters in 2002. By building a reliable presence in the professional fishing and guiding community of Charleston, Captain Irwin has become the premier light tackle and fly-fishing charter service.
When not on the water, Captain John Irwin teaches seminars at the Charleston Angler and private casting lessons. He also plays the guitar and upright bass in various locations around Charleston.
